PRR Task Force: 97 Percent of Sumatra Post-Disaster SPBU Operational
Sumatra Disaster Post-Disaster Recovery and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (PRR) reports that as of 4 March 2026, out of 156 affected Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU), 151 or 97 percent have resumed operations, with 5 SPBU not operating due to road access constraints. This was conveyed in line with the latest developments in the operation of SPBU and Stasiun Pengisian Bulk Elpiji (SPBE) in Aceh, North Sumatra (Sumut) and West Sumatra (Sumbar). To boost fuel supply, there are eight alternative SPBU mostly spread in Aceh Tengah. In addition, 11 SPBE and 131 Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) agents have already been fully operational. However, to date the PRR faces challenges in fuel supply due to access from Lhokseumawe to Aceh Utara, Bireun, Bener Meriah, Aceh Tengah, Pidie Kuta Belang, Meureudu which is not yet fully normal. Some routes remain under repair. Furthermore, the PRR reports that 406 SPBU, 46 SPBE, and 383 LPG agents in Sumut are also 100 percent functioning. Supply is recorded as not yet stable due to several road links being cut, such as in Humbang Hasundutan. In Sumbar, 147 SPBU, 14 SPBE, and 172 LPG agents have also 100 percent operation. The PRR notes that access to BBM and LPG supply via Lembah Anai and Malalak has not yet been possible, so routes have been diverted via Sitinjau Lauik. Earlier, the Chair of the PRR for Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, stated that BBM and LPG supplies, as well as electricity, are fundamental needs that must be included in the priority indicators for life restoration. βFor recovery indicators, among others, are very basic necessities such as electricity, and fuels, both BBM and LPG, as well as communications and the internet,β Tito said in a press release, Wednesday (11 February).
