PRR-PNM Task Force Develops Business Financing Scheme for Sumatra Survivors
The Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR) for Sumatra is collaborating with PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) to prepare a business financing and empowerment model for disaster survivors in Agam Regency, West Sumatra.
Agam Regency was selected as a pilot project for developing a programme that integrates business financing support with community assistance. Through this scheme, the government hopes the economic recovery process can be accelerated.
PNM has expressed its commitment to supporting the economic recovery of disaster-affected communities through the provision of financing access and business empowerment programmes. This collaboration is expected to accelerate the economic independence of communities, as well as strengthen socio-economic resilience in disaster-affected areas.
Minister of Home Affairs and Head of Satgas PRR, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, received a report from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) team regarding the various steps that have been taken.
In the assistance provided by BNPB together with PNM, the Agam Regency Government, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and related agencies, various stages of programme implementation were discussed, ranging from the preparation of a business-cluster-based financing scheme, the verification of 5,843 customers including 1,820 customers in Agam Regency, to the data matching of aid recipients.
The meeting also discussed progress on the drafting of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between BNPB and PT PNM, along with a cooperation agreement as the foundation for implementing the programme.
“The meeting discussed the plan for business financing clusters, customer verification, data matching of aid recipients, progress on the drafting of the BNPB-PNM MoU, and the preparation of a cooperation agreement as the basis for programme implementation,” the BNPB team wrote in its report.
As part of the assistance, the BNPB team together with PNM also visited temporary housing (huntara) in Palembayan and Tanjung Raya districts. On that occasion, the financing and business empowerment programme was introduced, so that the community would have wider access to capital and receive guidance in developing their businesses.
The team then directly inspected a number of community-owned businesses to identify the potential for local economic development. The results of this identification will form the basis for preparing a financing scheme tailored to the characteristics of each business, so that the assistance provided can support business sustainability.
Going forward, Satgas PRR through BNPB will continue to oversee the preparation of cooperation mechanisms with PNM and the Agam Regency Government so that the programme can be implemented soon.
The results of this pilot project will subsequently be evaluated as the basis for developing a similar model in other disaster-affected regions.
