Provincial Road TPR Demolished Today, Access to Parangtritis Diverted.

The old Parangtritis Toll Collection Post (TPR) on Jalan Parangtritis has finally been demolished today. The demolition occurred because the TPR building occupies a provincial road; in addition, access to Parangtritis is temporarily diverted via Pantai Depok.

“Yes, around 9.00 am this morning the process of demolishing the old Parangtritis TPR began,” said Markus Purnomo Adi, Head of Tourism and Creative Economy at the Bantul Tourism Office (Dispar) when contacted by reporters on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

The demolition, Markus continued, used heavy equipment such as excavators. Considering the TPR building is quite large and there are road barriers.

“For the demolition, it will last only one day, probably until late afternoon. Because it requires levelling everything, the road barriers (at the old Parangtritis TPR) will also be dismantled,” he said.

Regarding the reason for demolishing the old Parangtritis TPR, Markus said it falls under the authority of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Government (Pemda DIY). After all, the road is a provincial road and there should be no buildings in the middle of a provincial road.

“As far as I know, because the building is on a provincial road and the Provincial Road Work Unit has been asked to remove it (the old Parangtritis TPR),” he added.

On another note, Markus said during the demolition the traffic flow towards Parangtritis Beach will be diverted. The diversion only applies to entering the Parangtritis Beach area.

“Those coming from the north or intending to enter Parangtritis should temporarily be directed via Pantai Depok. So, before the old Parangtritis TPR is passed, it should be directed to the right, toward Pantai Depok,” he said.
