The Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Office (Dukcapil) predicts a decline in the number of new migrant residents following Eid al-Fitr or Lebaran in 2026. The provincial government notes that the trend of decreasing new arrivals has been observed over the past three years. “Looking at the development of administrative service results from 25 to 30 March 2026, it has not yet reached 1,000 new souls. It seems the trend of declining arrivals post-Lebaran, like the past three years, could repeat,” said Head of Dukcapil DKI Jakarta, Denny Wahyu Haryanto, when asked for confirmation on Wednesday (1/4/2026). Denny stated that they are still awaiting developments until the end of April. According to him, the one-month period after Lebaran often becomes a phase for population movement from outside Jakarta to Jakarta. “For certainty, we are still waiting for developments until the end of April 2026,” he explained. He mentioned that the DKI Provincial Government is also conducting outreach population services from 1 April to 29 April 2026. He hopes this programme will make it easier for residents to handle population administration needs. “This outreach activity is to ensure all arrivals are recorded, while also providing administrative services closer to the residents,” he said.
