Providing Development Spaces for Orphans and the Underprivileged for a Better Future

The Amil Zakat Institution (LAZ) Percikan Iman has once again provided a development space for orphans and underprivileged children through the Joycamp Percikan Iman 2026 programme. A total of 335 fostered children from various regions participated in a series of child-friendly Islamic educational activities held at the Wakaf Area of the Peradaban Percikan Iman Mosque in Arjasari, Bandung Regency, on 8–9 July 2026. Carrying the theme ‘Caring for Nature, Guarding Faith’, this year’s agenda combined Islamic values with environmental education. The organising committee packaged these into various interactive activities so that participants understand the responsibility of protecting the earth from an early age. The implementation of Joycamp 2026 also serves as tangible support for the Lebaran Yatim programme initiated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs together with national amil zakat institutions. This programme has been developed into a comprehensive development scheme, continuing the baton of the Jambore Anak Saleh which was routinely held in previous years. Chief Executive of Joycamp Percikan Iman 2026, Siswadi, explained that the environmental theme was chosen due to the increasingly vulnerable condition of nature, particularly in the West Java region, to disasters. ‘The basis is the Qur’an, Surah Al-Baqarah verse 30. We want to remind children that they are sent by Allah to protect the earth, not to destroy it. Protecting the environment is part of faith,’ said Siswadi via a press release received on Saturday (11/7/2026). Siswadi explained that this aspect of character building is the main differentiator of Joycamp from conventional orphan donations. In addition to fulfilling material rights, children are given space to explore new experiences, expand their friendship networks, and build the courage for healthy competition. Over two full days, hundreds of participants took part in various competitions, ranging from Pildacil, Hifdzil Qur’an, Story Telling, quizzes, a marathon, futsal, to a contingent parade. They were also provided with practical materials through a Disaster Preparedness Workshop and a tree-planting activity. Notably, for participants who demonstrated outstanding achievement, the committee opened the opportunity to take part in a full scholarship selection at the Percikan Iman Junior Boarding School. To ensure the sustainability of the programme’s impact, LAZ Percikan Iman ensures that development does not stop after the closing ceremony. The Duta Peradaban volunteer network will be deployed to conduct regular mentoring in foster homes, Qur’an houses, and orphan communities in the participants’ various home regions. The successful organisation of Joycamp 2026 was acknowledged to be inseparable from the synergy of zakat, infak, and sedekah (ZIS) with several strategic corporate partners, such as PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), Alamme Herbal, Heykama, Burger Bangor, as well as individual donors and volunteers. ‘Orphans and the underprivileged are not just objects of seasonal charity. Do not just give them fish, but equip them with a fishing rod so they have the provisions to achieve their future. We hope Joycamp becomes proof that zakat, infak, and sedekah managed in a directed manner can deliver real and sustainable impact,’ said Siswadi.
