Providing Development Spaces for Orphans and the Underprivileged for a Better Future
The Zakat Management Institution (LAZ) Percikan Iman once again provided a development space for orphaned and underprivileged children through the Joycamp Percikan Iman 2026 programme. A total of 335 sponsored children from various regions took part in a series of child-friendly Islamic education activities held at the Waqf Area of the Percikan Iman Peradaban Mosque in Arjasari, Bandung Regency, on 8–9 July 2026.
Carrying the theme ‘Caring for Nature, Guarding Faith’, this year’s agenda combined Islamic values with environmental education. The organisers packaged it in various interactive activities so participants could understand their responsibility to protect the earth from an early age.
The staging of Joycamp 2026 also served as a tangible form of support for the Lebaran Yatim programme initiated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia together with national zakat management institutions. The programme was developed into a comprehensive mentoring scheme, continuing the legacy of the Jambore Anak Saleh that was regularly held in previous years.
The Chairman of Joycamp Percikan Iman 2026, Siswadi, explained that the environmental theme was chosen in view of natural conditions, particularly in West Java, which are increasingly vulnerable to disasters.
“The foundation is the Qur’an, Surah Al-Baqarah verse 30. We want to remind the children that they were sent by Allah to care for the earth, not to destroy it. Protecting the environment is part of faith,” Siswadi said in a press release received on Saturday (11 July 2026).
Siswadi outlined that this character-building aspect is the main feature distinguishing Joycamp from conventional charitable handouts for orphans. Beyond meeting material needs, the children were given space to gain new experiences, broaden friendships, and build the courage to compete healthily.
Over two full days, hundreds of participants took part in a variety of competitions, ranging from Pildacil, Hifdzil Qur’an, storytelling, a general knowledge quiz, a marathon, futsal, and a contingent parade. They were also equipped with practical material through a Disaster Preparedness Workshop and real tree-planting action. Notably, for participants who showed outstanding achievement, the organisers opened the opportunity to enter selection for a full scholarship at the Percikan Iman Boarding School junior high school.
To ensure the programme’s impact is sustained, LAZ Percikan Iman made certain that mentoring does not stop after the closing ceremony. The Duta Peradaban volunteer network will be deployed to provide regular assistance at sponsored homes, Qur’an houses, and orphan communities in the various regions the participants come from.
The staging of Joycamp 2026 was acknowledged as inseparable from the synergy of zakat, infak and sedekah (ZIS) together with several strategic corporate partners, such as PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), Alamme Herbal, Heykama, Burger Bangor, as well as individual donors and volunteers.
“Orphans and the underprivileged are not merely objects of seasonal charity. Do not just give them fish, but equip them with a fishing rod so they have the means to secure their own future. We hope Joycamp proves that zakat, infak and sedekah managed in a directed manner can deliver real and sustainable impact,” said Siswadi.
The Chairman of Baznas, Sodik Mudjahid, and the Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, emphasised the importance of transforming social assistance into productive empowerment for orphans and persons with disabilities.
The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) organised the Lebaran Yatim event nationally.
