Protests Reported for This Afternoon, 5 October; Avoid These Roads

Demonstrations are planned to take place again in Jakarta on Monday, 5 June 2026. The All-Indonesia Student Executive Body (BEM SI) will hold a National Education Action at the House of Representatives (DPR RI) building in Jakarta, starting around 1:00 PM WIB.

It is reported that students will bring four main demands, ranging from the revision of the National Education System Law (UU Sisdiknas) to ensuring the sustainability of private higher education institutions (PTS). Traffic congestion is likely to occur in front of the DPR RI building.

“Free education is not merely a promise. It is a right that must be truly felt by all Indonesian people. From Aceh to Papua, from primary education to higher education,” wrote the @bem_si account.

“The same applies to teachers and educators. Those who stand before classrooms every day to educate the nation’s generation deserve welfare, certainty, and proper recognition,” the account added.

“Therefore, this struggle is not enough to just be discussed. We must be present. We must speak up. We must oversee the process.”

Nevertheless, so far there has been no official notification regarding the protest on the TMC Polda Metro Jaya Instagram account. Similar information has not yet appeared on the accounts of the Central Jakarta Metro Police or the Central Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit.
