Protests in Jakarta Today: Avoid Traffic in These Three Areas

People travelling to Gambir, in front of the DPR/MPR Building in Senayan, and Kebon Sirih should seek alternative routes as protests take place in these three areas today, Thursday (21 May 2026). The Public Relations Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Inspector (Iptu) Erlyn Sumantri, said that on Jalan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir, Central Jakarta, there is a demonstration by online motorcycle taxi drivers starting at 10:00 WIB. Meanwhile, in front of the DPR/MPR Building, Senayan, there is a demonstration by the Gerakan Mahasiswa Peduli Demokrasi (Student Movement Caring for Democracy) which begins at 13:00 WIB. Also, at the same time, there is a demonstration by the DPC Gerakan Mahasiswa Nasional Indonesia Kota Bekasi in front of the National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional) building, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Menteng, Central Jakarta. Traffic management at the protest sites will be implemented on a situational basis depending on the number of people on the ground. Erlyn urged the public to avoid the areas around the demonstrations to prevent traffic jams. Residents can seek alternative routes during the protests.
