JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Two demonstrations will take place in Central Jakarta on Thursday (16/4/2026) today. The Head of Public Relations for the Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort, First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, stated that the first demonstration will be held in front of the DPR/MPR RI Building, Senayan, at 10:00 WIB. “A protest by the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Metal Workers’ Federation (DPP FSPMI),” Erlyn said in a written statement. A total of 1,948 combined police personnel will be deployed to secure the demonstration on Thursday. Meanwhile, traffic engineering at the demonstration points will be carried out situationally, taking into account the number of participants on the ground. Erlyn advised the public to avoid the areas around the protests to anticipate traffic congestion. “Residents can seek alternative routes during the protest,” Erlyn added.
