TANGERANG (JP): Hundreds of workers of furniture manufacturer PT Arjuna Maha Sentosa protested on Wednesday by marching from the Tangerang office of the Ministry of Manpower to their company's factory on Jl. Kasir II in Gembor village, Jatiuwung.

Their march, covering about 10 kilometers, caused heavy traffic jams.

"We will continue our protest until our demands are met," a protester who asked not to be named said.

Demands include increases in their daily meal allowance from Rp 250 to Rp 1,000 and their shift allowance from Rp 15,000 to Rp 20,000 per week.

The workers, mostly women, also demanded their right to maternity leave, menstruation leave and annual leave. (41/hhr)
