Protesters vandalize governor's office

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Hundreds of impatient protesters who have camped out at the North Sumatra governor's office for four days, started to vandalize the complex on Monday.

The residents of Deliserdang regency were apparently angry that their demands had not been met and began to vandalize garden walls and windows.

They splashed red ink on the windows and walls of the 11-story building after their protests failed to get them a meeting with Governor T. Rizal Nurdin over a land dispute involving a state plantation company. (jun)
