Protesters Rally at BGN Office in Central Jakarta, Demand Audit of Free Nutritious Meals Programme

A group of protesters calling themselves MBG Watch conducted a demonstration in front of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) office. The protesters installed yellow and black police tape around the BGN premises.

Observations at the BGN office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (10/06/2026) showed that the crowd had attached several posters criticising the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. Their posters included slogans such as ‘This Building is Sealed by Us’, ‘Audit MBG’, and ‘We are Fed Up! Total Overhaul of MBG!’

Several participants were seen carrying items such as pots and other cooking utensils. They took turns delivering orations using loudspeakers.

During the speeches, representatives of the group stated that the governance of the MBG programme needs a thorough evaluation. They expressed disappointment regarding issues arising from the programme’s implementation.

“We, the MBG Watch Alliance, want to demand that the government seriously overhaul our MBG governance,” said one of the orators during the protest.

The protesters stated that the installation of the yellow tape and posters in front of the BGN office served as a symbol of their demand for the government to rectify the MBG programme. The crowd also unfurled a poster reading ‘honk your horn if you are fed up with MBG’. Upon seeing the poster, many passing motorists responded by honking their vehicle horns.
