Protest at Attorney General's Office Disrupts TransJakarta Route at CSW

Dozens of people from the National Legal Intellectual Network (JIHN) staged a protest in front of the Attorney General’s Office on Jalan Panglima Polim, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (22/7). The action caused significant disruption to public transport access, particularly the TransJakarta route towards Kota at the Cakra Selaras Wahana (CSW) bus stop. Based on observations at the scene, the crowd began gathering at 14:13 WIB. Initially, the protesters lined up orderly in the Blok M area before starting speeches and blocking the road, which impeded the flow of private vehicles and TransJakarta buses. The Director of the National Legal Intellectual Network, Riswan Siahaan, stated in his speech that the action carried four crucial demands regarding the integrity of the Attorney General’s Office. Their main focus was urging the Attorney General to be transparent and independent in handling the case involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah. “We hope the Attorney General will immediately uncover and expel the former Jampidsus Febrie so that the public is not left questioning. We really hope there is no blunt law,” Riswan said in front of the AGO building. The situation briefly heated up when protesters completely closed Jalan Panglima Polim and burned posters in the middle of the road. Some demonstrators reportedly attempted to force their way into the Attorney General’s Office building. In response, police officers on guard immediately took preventive action. Officers used light fire extinguishers to put out the burning posters and wet the asphalt to prevent the fire from spreading. During the protest, police managed the traffic flow in the Kebayoran Baru area, which became congested due to the closure of the busway lane and the narrowing of the road by the crowd. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes to avoid the traffic jam around the Blok M and CSW area.
