Protes Crowd Demands Trial for Andrie Yunus Case at TNI Military Police Headquarters
A number of civilians from Kolektif Merpati held a demonstration in front of the TNI Military Police Headquarters (Puspom), Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur, Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon, 16 April 2026. During the action, they demanded that the alleged attempted murder case against Andrie Yunus be tried through a general or civilian court.
Kolektif Merpati representative, Arief Bobhil, stated that the action was a form of civil society oversight of the ongoing legal process. “Today’s action is held by Kolektif Merpati and other friends to emphasise that we are monitoring the Andrie Yunus case,” said Arief when met at the location on Thursday afternoon.
He assessed that transferring the case to Puspom TNI could hinder accountability and transparency. “When this case is handed over to Puspom, what we hope for is accountability and transparency, which is quite difficult to achieve,” he said during the brief action.
In addition to demanding a general trial, Arief said his side also urged that the case be categorised as a gross human rights violation. That demand, he said, had been voiced in previous actions in front of the Prosecutor’s Office.
“We demand that this case be brought to a general court, and the Andrie Yunus case can be made a gross human rights violation case,” he said.
The latest development, the Military Audit Office Il-07 Jakarta handed over the Andrie Yunus case files to the Military Court II-08 Jakarta today, Thursday, 16 April 2026. This handover follows the submission of case files for four TNI soldier suspects from the Puspom TNI investigation results.
Head of Military Audit II-07 Jakarta, Colonel Corps of Law (Chk) Andri Wijaya, revealed the motive behind the pouring incident carried out by the four suspects. “Up to now, what we have delved into through the examination report is that the motive of the defendants is still personal grudges against brother AY,” said Andri during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday.
Based on information from the TNI Military Police Centre or Puspom TNI, there are four perpetrators of the pouring. They are NDP, SL, BHW, and ES, from the air and sea branches. NDP holds the rank of captain, SL and BHW are first lieutenants, while ES is a second sergeant. They are personnel assigned to the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency or Bais TNI.
