JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The case of alleged sexual harassment involving the television tahfiz judge, Syekh Ahmad Al Misry, has entered a new phase.

The victims, who are santri, are now receiving protection from the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) as the legal process against the suspect proceeds.

This protection was granted after LPSK approved the request submitted by the victims’ legal aides at the end of 2025.

“LPSK received the protection request from the victims’ legal aides on 16 December 2025, and after review, the request was approved in a LPSK leadership meeting on 30 March 2026,” said LPSK Deputy Chairman Wawan Fahrudin in Jakarta on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

“LPSK operates independently, and decisions by the leadership are made collectively and collegially to maintain the quality of protection, as well as the independence of LPSK’s decisions in providing protection for witnesses and/or victims,” he explained.

Wawan elaborated that the protection provided by LPSK not only covers physical and legal aspects but also the fulfilment of rights for victim recovery, particularly for those experiencing psychological impacts.

The services include accompaniment during the legal process as well as access to medical and psychosocial recovery.

“In addition to protection, we also provide fulfilment of their recovery rights,” Wawan added.

Through this protection, it is hoped that the victims can provide statements without pressure or threats.

LPSK also ensures that it will continue to monitor the fulfilment of the victims’ rights throughout the legal process.

This effort is deemed essential to ensure that law enforcement against the suspect proceeds effectively while delivering justice to the victims.

LPSK’s steps are proceeding alongside the investigation being conducted by Bareskrim Polri.

It is known that investigators have named Syekh Ahmad Al Misry, alias SAM, as a suspect after conducting a case review based on the police report received on 28 November 2025.
