Protecting Children in Digital Spaces: Ministry Holds Online Parenting Training

The Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPPA) is continuing to strengthen efforts to protect children in digital spaces by increasing the capacity of parents and teachers.

“The training is expected to help parents and teachers understand the stages of child development, recognise risks in digital spaces, build open and safe communication with children, and provide guidance in the use of gadgets and the internet,” said Minister of PPPA, Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, in Jakarta on Friday.

She stated that one method involves digital-era parenting training via e-learning, which can be accessed for free by the public at https://elearning.kemenpppa.go.id/ for those requiring improved literacy and parenting skills.

This effort is crucial given that every digital platform carries risks for children, including contact with strangers, exposure to pornography and violence, access to age-inappropriate content, threats to personal data security, addictive usage, and disruptions to a child’s psychological and physical health.

Recently, allegations emerged regarding a digital chat group containing sexually explicit discussions involving children as members. The police are currently investigating the suspected pedophilia network, with the case reported to the Cyber Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police on 29 August 2026.

“The Ministry of PPPA respects and supports the investigation process being conducted by the police, including the coordination between the Cyber Directorate and the Directorate for the Protection of Women and Children and the Eradication of Human Trafficking,” said Minister Arifatul Choiri Fauzi.
