Protecting Artworks, AXA Launches Global Insurance in Indonesia
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT AXA Insurance Indonesia has launched a global-standard art insurance solution in Indonesia, in line with the increasing need for protection of high-value assets in the increasingly dynamic art market.
The product, titled “Fine Art & Collections Insurance”, is designed to protect artworks and valuable collections that not only hold economic value but also personal and sentimental value for their owners.
President Director of AXA Insurance Indonesia, Laurent Bourson, stated that the art segment requires more specific protection compared to other assets.
“We see the art and high-value assets segment as an area that requires very specific protection,” said Laurent in an official statement in Jakarta on Thursday (30/4/2026).
This product is launched in conjunction with the increasing activity in art exhibitions and the growing number of collectors, including young generations who are starting to actively collect high-value artworks.
For their owners, artworks are not only viewed as investment instruments but also as part of identity, inspiration, and cultural heritage that needs to be preserved.
The product covers protection for various types of collections, from paintings, sculptures, visual arts, ceramics, to high-value items such as antique books, jewellery, watches, luxury bags, and haute couture clothing.
Fine Art & Collections Insurance is also registered and supervised by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in the category of Art & Jewellery Insurance.
Chief Executive Officer Asia of AXA XL, Sylvie Gleises, added that this collaboration brings global experience in art protection to the Indonesian market.
“With over sixty years of global experience, AXA XL brings international-standard Fine Art & Collections protection to Indonesia through collaboration with AXA Insurance,” said Sylvie.
“Our commitment is not only to provide insurance but also to actively play a role in protecting the value of artworks and preserving cultural heritage through a global network of fine arts experts,” she added.
As part of the AXA Group, the company provides general and health insurance solutions through various distribution channels, with service coverage in dozens of cities and supported by thousands of partners and agents in Indonesia.
For broader context, the launch of this art insurance product also occurs amid regulatory pushes to strengthen the insurance industry’s role in the national economy.
