Prostitute outwits playboy con-man

PURWOKERTO, Central Java: A wanted con artist who posed as a
playboy and preyed on rich girls ended his love adventures in
police custody yesterday.

Amin Muhamad, 33, was outwitted by a 23-year-old prostitute he
went with to a cheap motel in Kebumen.

The woman said she sensed something fishy when he asked her to
hand over all of the jewelry she was wearing.

She called the police and the swindler was arrested at the
local bus station where he was about to embark on a bus with her
jewelry.

The arresting officers called Amin a "true playboy". They said
he is always neatly dressed and never fails to win the hearts of
even "good girls".

The unemployed man would ask the women he was dating to put on
their best jewelry and to bring along other valuables to a hotel
where they were to be introduced to a "very important person"
whom he planned to invite to become his guest for the evening.

But these love stories almost always had sad endings.

"He would rob the women of their belongings and leave them
penniless after their dates," a police officer said.

The police praised the prostitute as "truly professional"
because she made the playboy's arrest possible. (wah/pan)
