Prostitute found dead
JAKARTA (JP): A prostitute was found dead yesterday morning in
the Pulogadung industrial complex, East Jakarta, police said.
The body of the 32-year-old woman, identified as Lasmarini,
was found by a passerby at about 2 a.m. behind an electricity
relay station box. There was severe bruising of the face and neck
of the victim.
Lasmarini had reportedly worked in the area in which her body
was discovered.
According to the chief of the East Jakarta Crime Investigation
Unit, Maj. Endang Sanjaya, "the murderer may have bashed the
victim's face against the ground several times."
A bandage, a comb and a knife found near the body have been
kept by police for further investigation.
At least five people, including two other prostitutes, have
been questioned, Endang said.
The Pulogadung industrial complex is home to a large number of
factories producing a wide range of products, including some
destined for export.
In the evenings, dozens of prostitutes from nearby areas flock
the complex to offer their services. (bsr)
