The trial concerning the alleged corruption case implicating Hendi Prio Santoso, former President Director of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), has been postponed because his health condition has not yet recovered following surgery.

KPK Prosecutor Agung Nugroho stated that the postponement will continue until Hendi is fully declared healthy by a doctor and fit to attend the trial.

“It will be postponed until he is completely recovered. We’re afraid that if we bring him to the trial and he’s still not healthy, it will cause complications in the courtroom,” said Agung.

According to Agung, Hendi recently underwent prostate surgery and is still in the recovery period. Therefore, his condition is deemed not yet suitable for attending a trial of long duration.

“Because yesterday we visited him directly at Abdi Waluyo Hospital, his condition is still unwell. We’re concerned that if he sits for too long, his complaints might arise,” he explained.

Another prosecutor, Muhammad Ali Fikri, added that Hendi has been excused from attendance since 6 March 2026. He noted that this excuse is not the first time, as the defendant had previously undergone surgical procedures.

“As of 6 March, an excuse was granted. Previously, it has happened several times due to prostate surgery,” said Ali.

Agung emphasised that Hendi can only be brought back to the courtroom after the prosecutors receive an official statement from the doctor confirming his recovery.

“We need a letter from the doctor stating that he has recovered. A mere statement from the individual himself is not sufficient,” he said.

Thus, the schedule for Hendi Prio Santoso’s trial will be rescheduled once his health condition is declared suitable for undergoing the trial process.

This case is part of the alleged corruption in the gas sales cooperation between PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk and PT Inti Alasindo Energi (IAE), which is part of the Isar Gas Group, in 2017.

In that case, Commissioner of PT IAE, Arso Sadewo Tjokrosubroto, is accused of committing unlawful acts along with several parties, including Hendi Prio Santoso, Iswani Ibrahim, and Danny Praditya.

Prosecutors stated that the cooperation used an advance payment scheme of US$15 million, which is suspected to have been used to help the Isar Gas Group settle debts.

As a result of that scheme, the state is alleged to have suffered a loss of US$15 million or approximately Rp240 billion. In addition to harming state finances, prosecutors assess that the scheme also enriched the Isar Gas Group and several other parties.
