The Ambon City Government, Maluku Province, is providing pocket money of Rp1 million to each prospective Hajj pilgrim this year. According to Ambon Mayor Bodewin M Wattimena, the provision of these funds serves as a form of support and care from his administration towards the smooth conduct of the Hajj pilgrimage. “We are facilitating, including providing pocket money to all prospective Hajj pilgrims, Rp1 million per person. This is proof of the City Government’s concern for all pilgrims. Hopefully, it will be beneficial,” stated Bodewin Wattimena in Ambon, Maluku, on Monday (4/5/2026). The pocket money assistance was handed directly to representatives of the prospective pilgrims during the send-off event in Ambon City, together with the Maluku Provincial Ministry of Religious Affairs Office and the Ambon City Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. Bodewin conveyed that the assistance is given to all prospective Hajj pilgrims who will depart for the Holy Land. He hopes that the funds can help meet their needs while performing the pilgrimage. He explained that this year, 461 prospective Hajj pilgrims from Ambon City are grouped in Departure Groups (Kloter) 24 and 26. They are ready to depart after going through various preparation stages. “We are grateful that after passing the preparation stages, including mutations of pilgrims entering and leaving, today we can send off 461 prospective Hajj pilgrims from Ambon City,” he said. The Ambon City Government hopes that all the preparation processes conducted, both in administration, mental, physical, and health aspects, can have a positive impact on the pilgrims when performing their pilgrimage in the Holy Land. “Our hope is that all the preparation processes carried out by the organisers together with the city government can have a good impact when they arrive in the Holy Land and perform the Hajj pilgrimage,” he stated.
