Prospective groom caught for robbery

TANGERANG (JP): Police have arrested a man for allegedly taking part in a mugging with two accomplices -- and using his share of the money to pay for his wedding.

Ali, 25, was arrested on Wednesday with Sutisna, 35, and Johadi, 22, at their residences in the Kampung Baru area of Kresek district here, police said on Thursday.

Local officers said the men allegedly robbed Tangerang resident, Budi Gunawan, 21, of Rp 1,575,000 a day earlier on Jl. Sitanala.

Police said Ali was apprehended shortly after he left for the wedding ceremony on Wednesday.

Tangerang Police chief Lt. Col. Pudji Hartanto said Ali used his share of the cash to fund the ceremony.

The other two squandered the money, the officer said.

Johadi, who attempted to resist arrest by attacking officers with a machete, was shot in the toe.

"All three are still being questioned," Pudji said. (41/bsr)
