Prosiwangi Toll Road officially opens for free for 14 days
Probolinggo, East Java (ANTARA) - The Probolisinggo – Situbondo – Banyuwangi (Prosiwangi) toll road segment, specifically the Gending – SS Kraksaan Interchange – SS Paiton section, has officially opened for free for 14 days and has been accessible to vehicles since Wednesday.
The operation of the 23.515-kilometre stretch began at 10:00 WIB after it was declared to have met all requirements through the Functionality and Operation Feasibility Test (ULFO).
“The 14-day socialisation period is expected to be utilised by the public to directly experience the Prosiwangi toll road, particularly the Gending, SS Kraksaan, and SS Paiton access points,” said the President Director of PT Jasamarga Group, Rivan Achmad Purwantono, in Probolinggo on Wednesday.
The Gending – SS Kraksaan – SS Paiton section consists of Section 1 (Gending – SS Kraksaan) and Section 2 (SS Kraksaan – SS Paiton), featuring two toll gates: the Kraksaan Toll Gate and the Paiton Toll Gate.
During the first 14 days of operation, motorists can pass without being charged a tariff. This period serves as a socialisation phase so that road users can familiarise themselves with the access routes, lanes, facilities, and transaction systems on the toll road.
Despite the free passage, motorists are still required to tap their electronic money cards when passing through the toll gates.
“Alhamdulillah, today we are holding a thanksgiving ceremony while socialising to the public that the Prosiwagi toll road, specifically from Gending, SS Kraksaan, and SS Paiton, is now available for use,” he said.
Rivan expressed his appreciation to the local government, religious leaders, and the community for their support from the initial construction preparation stages through to the commencement of operations.
“Regarding the implementation of tariffs, we are still awaiting the official determination from the Ministry of Public Works,” he added.
In addition to Sections 1 and 2, the construction of the Prosiwangi toll road continues towards Besuki. Section 3 has currently entered the functionality test stage and has reached 100 per cent construction completion. Jasa Marga hopes that the operating permit can be obtained by November or December 2026, or even sooner.
“Once it is connected to Besuki, the total length of the route available for the public will be approximately 49.5 kilometres. We are currently continuing to prepare supporting facilities, including functional rest areas,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Probolinggo Regency, Ugas Irwanto, stated that the operation of the Gending – SS Kraksaan – SS Paiton toll road is a long-awaited moment for the community.
“We express our appreciation to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Public Works, and all parties involved in the construction of this section,” he said.
According to him, the road is not merely a toll road, but a pathway towards prosperity for the people of Probolinggo.
“God willing, its existence will have a significant impact on accelerating economic growth and the development of the tourism sector in Probolinggo Regency,” he concluded.
