Prosecutors Transfer Customs Officer's Case to Court

Public prosecutors at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have handed over the case file of defendant Budiman Bayu Prasodjo, an official at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, to the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court.

“Today our prosecution team carried out the administrative handover, namely the indictment and case file for defendant Budiman Bayu Prasojo,” said KPK prosecutor Takdir Suhan in a written statement on Wednesday (15 July).

Takdir said Budiman is charged under the article on receiving gratuities amounting to more than Rp5.7 billion, including other receipts in the form of various foreign currencies.

As for those who gave the gratuities, Takdir continued, they will be revealed during the reading of the indictment in court.

“We are currently still awaiting the determination of the trial date, including the panel of judges who will preside over the proceedings,” he said.

Budiman is part of the third batch of defendants to be tried in the alleged corruption case linked to imports within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.

The first batch involved the leaders of Blueray Cargo (Group), who have already been found guilty.

Blueray Cargo (Group) leader John Field was sentenced to 2 years in prison and a fine of Rp300 million, with a subsidiary penalty of 100 days’ imprisonment.

Meanwhile, Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo, Custom Clearance Operations Manager at the Port for Blueray Cargo (Group), and Andri, Head of the Import Documentation Team at Blueray Cargo (Group), were each sentenced to 1.5 years in prison and fined Rp200 million each, with a subsidiary penalty of 80 days’ imprisonment.

The second batch involves three defendants, namely the Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Rizal; the Head of the Intelligence Sub-Directorate at the Enforcement and Investigation Directorate, Sisprian Subiaksono; and the Head of the Customs Intelligence Section I at the Enforcement and Investigation Directorate, Orlando Hamonangan.

Their case has entered the evidentiary stage in court.
