Prosecutors Transfer Customs Officer's Case to Court

Prosecutors from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have transferred the case file of defendant Budiman Bayu Prasodjo, an officer of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, to the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court. “Today our team of prosecutors has carried out the administrative transfer, namely the indictment and case file for Defendant Budiman Bayu Prasojo,” said KPK Prosecutor Takdir Suhan in a written statement on Wednesday (15/7). Takdir stated that Budiman is charged under articles concerning the acceptance of gratuities amounting to more than IDR 5.7 billion, including other receipts in various foreign currencies. He added that the parties who provided the gratuities will be revealed during the trial for the reading of the indictment. “Currently we are still waiting for the determination of the trial date, including the panel of judges who will preside over the proceedings,” he said. Budiman is part of the third batch to be tried in a case of alleged corruption related to imports within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. The first batch included defendants from the leadership of Blueray Cargo (Group), who have already been found guilty. Blueray Cargo (Group) executive John Field was sentenced to 2 years in prison and a fine of IDR 300 million, subsidiary to 100 days of imprisonment. Meanwhile, Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo, Operational Manager of Custom Clearance at the port for Blueray Cargo (Group), and Andri, Head of the Import Document Team at Blueray Cargo (Group), were each sentenced to 1.5 years in prison and a fine of IDR 200 million, subsidiary to 80 days of imprisonment. The second batch consists of three defendants: the Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Rizal; the Sub-Director of Intelligence for the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation, Sisprian Subiaksono; and the Head of Customs Intelligence Section I of the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation, Orlando Hamonangan. Their case has already entered the evidentiary stage in court.
