Prosecutors Reveal Reasons Why Chromebook Manufacturers Are Ordered to Return Profits
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Public Prosecutors (JPU) stated that the reason several manufacturers are required to return their profits from the Chromebook-based laptop procurement is because those profits are alleged to stem from a corruption scheme. “In the indictment letter, that is one of the systems called a corruption scheme, and their profits will all be confiscated (for the state) later,” said the Head of the JPU Team, Roy Riady, when providing testimony after the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Thursday (16/4/2026). He spoke after reading the indictment against three defendants, including former Technology Consultant, Ibrahim Arief. “Yes, we will review it later,” Roy replied. In the reading of the indictment, several Chromebook manufacturers and resellers were asked to return their profits, including: PT Supertone for Rp 42,963,438,216.26, PT Asus Technology Indonesia for Rp 819,258,280, PT Tera Data Indonesia (Axioo) for Rp 177,414,888,528.48, PT Lenovo Indonesia for Rp 19,181,940,089.11, PT Zyrexindo Mandiri Buana (Zyrex) for Rp 41,178,850,415.25, PT Hewlett-Packard Indonesia (HP) for Rp 2,268,183,071, PT Grya Inti Jaya (Libera) for Rp 101,514,645,205.73, PT Evercoss Technology Indonesia for Rp 341,060,432.39, and PT Bhinneka Mentari Dimensi for Rp 281,676,239,975.27.
