Jakarta, VIVA - The Tim of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (JPU) disclosed a number of findings in the trial of the alleged Chromebook laptop procurement corruption case. The prosecutors said there are indications of wealth increases of the former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Nadiem Makarim, with a value reportedly reaching more than Rp6 trillion.

Prosecutor Roy Riady said they will submit additional evidence in the form of an Income Tax Return (SPT) belonging to Nadiem from 2019 to 2023.

‘There it is recorded an increase in income of around Rp809 billion from PT Gojek Indonesia,’ Roy said, quoted on Thursday 5 March 2026.

In addition, the prosecutor also pointed to other income increases which, according to the data, reach more than Rp4 trillion based on the SPT data they possess. Roy cited a share sale transaction of GT in 2023 valued at around Rp80 billion.

‘Even at the end in 2023, he supposedly no longer knew his shares in GT; apparently he sold shares in 2023 on the Stock Exchange for Rp80 billion,’ he said.

In the trial, the prosecutors highlighted the mechanism of the share sale which was said not to be done openly on the exchange, but through a closed transaction. According to Roy, this is one of the matters being studied in relation to the alleged Google’s investment relationship with the Chromebook procurement project.

‘That is what we suspect: there is mutual symbiosis, he seeks profit there, from where? From Google’s investment, which is Google that gets the Chromebook procurement project,’ he said.

He added that if the parties concerned feel they did not commit the alleged act, they can prove it in the trial process.

‘If indeed you feel you did not commit [the act], please prove it in the evidence process,’ he said.

Roy also mentioned statements from several witnesses in the proceedings, including the CEO of PT GT, Andre Soelistyo, who explained the granting of power related to stock management.

In addition, the prosecutors touched on the testimony of notary Jose Dima Satria, who is said to be related to the investment deed being examined in the proceedings.

The prosecutors estimated that the total increase in wealth presented in the session is around Rp6 trillion, consisting of several income components and stock transactions. However, the value will still be tested further in the trial process.
