Prosecutors Reveal Allegations Richard Lee Ordered Alteration of Beauty Product Packaging

The trial of doctor and beauty influencer Richard Lee was held today, Thursday, 18 June 2026, at the Tangerang District Court. During the session, the Public Prosecutor read out the indictment, revealing a number of alleged violations related to the production and distribution of his beauty products. He is suspected of manufacturing and distributing health and cosmetic products that did not meet safety standards or applicable regulations. The prosecutor also disclosed allegations of changes to the information on the packaging of several marketed products. The indictment stated that Richard Lee allegedly instructed his staff to add or alter the wording on several beauty products circulating in the market. ‘Ordered the witness to add and/or change the wording on the packaging of WT, Ripskin Superfisial Pink Aging, and RE.2 Pink The Secret of Inner Beauty and Health,’ the prosecutor said while reading the indictment. The case also highlighted the DNA Salmon product marketed through the TikTok Shop platform. According to the prosecutor, the product was registered as a cosmetic, but in practice it was used with the aid of a needle or microneedle, which did not comply with the product’s registration requirements. For these allegations, Richard Lee is not only charged under the provisions of the Health Law, but also faces elements of consumer protection violations because the marketed products were allegedly not in accordance with the standards or information provided to the public. ‘Threatened with Article 62 Paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 8 Paragraph 1 letter f of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection,’ the prosecutor stated. In this case, Richard Lee is charged under Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments and/or Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments. If later proven guilty on the charges related to the Health Law, Richard Lee faces a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison or a fine of up to Rp2 billion. Meanwhile, for the charges under the Consumer Protection Law, the criminal penalty awaiting him reaches five years in prison or a maximum fine of Rp200 million.
