Public prosecutors (JPU) have re-filed the case of Tifauzia Tyassuma, known as dr Tifa, to the East Jakarta District Court (PN Jaktim). The re-filing follows an earlier interim ruling in which the panel of judges declared the prosecutors’ indictment null and void.

The case relates to alleged slander and defamation of Indonesia’s seventh President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), connected to claims that his diploma was fake. Head of the Attorney General’s Office Law Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, said the prosecution had revised the indictment in accordance with the judges’ instructions in the earlier interim ruling.

“In line with the content of the East Jakarta District Court’s interim ruling, the public prosecutor has revised the indictment against the defendant Tifa and re-filed the case to the East Jakarta District Court,” Anang said when contacted on Wednesday (29 July 2026).

Anang added that the trial schedule for dr Tifa has already been set. “A hearing date of 6 August has been fixed,” he continued.

Contacted separately, East Jakarta District Court spokesperson Immanuel Tarigan confirmed that the case file had been received again by the court on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.

“That is correct, the case in the name of the defendant Tifauzia Tyassuma was re-filed to PN Jaktim on 28 July 2026,” said Immanuel.

Immanuel explained that the composition of the panel of judges hearing the case remains the same, chaired by Christina Endarwati with members Rudi Rafli Siregar and Mathilda Chrystina Katarina. He stressed that the proceedings will start again from the beginning.

“The first hearing is Thursday, 6 August 2026. The trial will restart with the reading of the indictment by the public prosecutor. The trial starts from scratch,” Immanuel added.

Previous Indictment Declared Null and Void

For context, the East Jakarta District Court panel previously granted the exception, or objection, filed by dr Tifa’s legal team at the hearing on Thursday (23 July). The judges declared the prosecutors’ indictment, registered under number PDM-133/M.1.14/EOH.2/06/2026, null and void.

“Adjudicating, the objection from the defendant’s team of advocates is accepted,” said presiding judge Christina Endarwati at that hearing.

Under that interim ruling, the judges ordered the case file to be returned to the public prosecutor, with the costs of the case borne by the state. This formed the basis for the prosecution to redraft the indictment before re-filing it with the court.

In its considerations, the court stated that the prosecutors should have set out precisely, clearly and completely the details of the acts committed by Tifa and determined under which articles of law the offences were charged.

The judges said the prosecutors must choose which articles to charge dr Tifa under, rather than applying provisions of the old Criminal Code and Law Number 1 of 2023 on the National Criminal Code simultaneously.
