Prosecutors Receive Case File on Attempted Smuggling of 40 Stolen Motorcycles to Timor Leste

The case file for a criminal group planning to smuggle stolen motor vehicles from Klaten and surrounding areas to Timor Leste has been declared complete, or P21, and transferred by the Regional Police. ‘It has been transferred from the Regional Police. The case relates to a plan to smuggle stolen motor vehicles from the Klaten area and its surroundings out of the country, specifically to Timor Leste,’ revealed the Head of Intelligence at the Klaten Prosecutor’s Office, Edi Sulistyo Utomo, on Friday (19/6/2026).

Edi stated that the case will soon be tried in Klaten. In addition to the case file, evidence including container trucks and approximately 40 motorcycles has also been handed over. ‘The evidence includes two container trucks and around 40 motorcycles. Because the Prosecutor’s Office does not yet have a place to store evidence of that size and quantity, we have entrusted it to the Police while awaiting the trial process,’ Edi said.

Meanwhile, the Head of General Crimes at the Klaten Prosecutor’s Office, Kevin Eldo Novarel, explained that the file was declared complete on 15 June. Prosecutors are currently finalising the indictment documents. ‘We are refining the indictment to meet the principles of speed, clarity, and completeness. The prosecution team will partly consist of members from the High Prosecutor’s Office, as the file review was conducted by them, and partly from our office, the District Prosecutor’s Office,’ Kevin explained.
