Prosecutors Prepare 20 Witnesses and 5 Experts for Taufik Hidayat Trial
The Public Prosecutor’s Office (JPU) of the Bandung Regency District Attorney’s Office is preparing around 20 witnesses and five experts to provide testimony in the trial of Taufik Hidayat (30) at the Bale Bandung District Court.
The Head of the General Crimes Section of the Bandung Regency District Attorney’s Office, Nizar Febriansyah, stated in Bandung on Wednesday that these dozens of witnesses and experts are listed in the case files prepared for the trial process.
“According to the files, there are indeed several witnesses, numbering around 20. There are also experts; for the experts, there are five,” he said following the court session.
“However, we will assess the weight of those who can be held accountable or examined during the trial so that this session proceeds smoothly, orderly, and perhaps not too long,” he added.
Nizar noted that this assessment is being conducted to ensure the case examination process remains effective while still considering the evidentiary requirements of the trial.
In the indictment, the Public Prosecutor outlines a series of actions by the defendant that form the basis of the case, which will be tested through the evidentiary process in court.
The examination of witnesses and experts will subsequently form part of the evidentiary stage after the panel of judges examines the charges brought against Taufik Hidayat.
