Prosecutor's Office awaits case files on Karang Taruna Bungur inventory theft

The Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office is still waiting for the transfer of case files concerning the theft of inventory from the Karang Taruna youth organisation in Bungur Urban Village from investigators at the Central Jakarta Metro Police. Fajar Seto, Head of the Intelligence Section at the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office, stated that more than 30 days after receiving the Notification of Commencement of Investigation (SPDP), the prosecutor’s office has yet to receive the first-stage case file for examination. “Because the SPDP has exceeded the 30-day period and the case file has not been sent to the public prosecutor, the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office has issued a letter requesting an update on the progress of the investigation, or P-17,” Fajar said in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday. Fajar explained that the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office received the SPDP naming two suspects, DS and PPJ, and subsequently issued a Public Prosecutor Appointment Letter (P-16) Number 323.H/M.1.10/Eoh.1/05/2026 on 29 May 2026. However, by the 30-day deadline after receiving the SPDP, investigators had not submitted the first-stage case file to the prosecutor. The letter requests that investigators provide an update on the progress of the investigation while ensuring the case handling process continues. The case originated from the disappearance of several inventory items from the Karang Taruna Secretariat of Bungur Urban Village, RW 06, Senen District, including a set of musical instruments, screen-printing equipment, a press, and other electronic goods, with an estimated loss exceeding Rp100 million. Previously, Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Robby Saputra stated that investigators had named two suspects based on witness statements and evidence, and are continuing to develop the case to further examine the roles of each suspect as well as the possibility of other perpetrators or receivers of the stolen goods. “Of course, there will be further developments regarding this case. Especially if there is a possibility of someone being the mastermind behind this theft,” Robby said.
