Prosecutor's Office awaits case files on Karang Taruna Bungur inventory theft

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari) is still awaiting the handover of case files from investigators at the Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort concerning the theft of inventory belonging to the Karang Taruna youth organisation of Bungur Urban Village.

Head of the Intelligence Section at the Central Jakarta Kejari, Fajar Seto, said that more than 30 days after receiving the Notice of Commencement of Investigation (SPDP), prosecutors have yet to receive the first-stage case files for review.

“Because the SPDP has passed the 30-day deadline and no case files have been sent to the public prosecutor, the Central Jakarta Kejari has issued a letter requesting an update on the results of the investigation, known as P-17,” said Fajar in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday.

Fajar explained that the Central Jakarta Kejari received the SPDP for two suspects, identified as DS and PPJ, and subsequently issued the Public Prosecutor Appointment Letter (P-16) Number 323.H/M.1.10/Eoh.1/05/2026 on 29 May 2026.

However, as of the 30-day deadline following receipt of the SPDP, investigators have not yet submitted the first-stage case files to prosecutors.

The letter requests that investigators report on the progress of the investigation whilst also ensuring that the handling of the case continues to proceed.

The case stems from the disappearance of several items of inventory belonging to the Secretariat of the Karang Taruna of Bungur Urban Village, RW 06, Senen Subdistrict, comprising a set of musical instruments, screen-printing equipment, a press machine and other electronic goods, with estimated losses exceeding Rp100 million.

Previously, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at the Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort, AKBP Robby Saputra, said investigators had named two suspects based on witness testimony and evidence, and were still developing the case to examine each suspect’s role as well as the possible involvement of other perpetrators or receivers of stolen goods.

“There will certainly be further developments in this case, especially if there is a possibility of a mastermind behind the theft,” Robby said.
