Prosecutors Drop Case Against Contract Teacher Accused of Holding Multiple Positions, Sahroni: No Malicious Intent
The prosecution has dropped the case against Muhammad Misbahul Huda (MMH), a contract teacher at SDN Brabe 1 in Probolinggo, who was previously a suspect for holding a second position as a Village Local Assistant (Pendamping Lokal Desa or PLD). Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Ahmad Sahroni, stated that the case should have been dropped.
“I strongly support the decision of the Attorney General’s Office through the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office, which has reviewed and decided on this case clearly and with conscience,” Sahroni told reporters on Thursday (26/2/2026).
Sahroni said that the prosecution had looked at the case as a whole. According to him, there was no malicious intent on the part of the individual, so the case should not have been pursued.
“The Attorney General’s Office has decided on this case by looking at the whole picture, that there was indeed no malicious intent, and the sources of his salary were also different, so it was not appropriate for him to be prosecuted. Therefore, the Attorney General’s Office’s decision was very appropriate,” said Sahroni.
Furthermore, Sahroni is also confident that the Attorney General’s Office will continue to be consistent with these values. The DPP NasDem treasurer emphasised that the law must remain empathetic.
“The law must be firm, but it must also be empathetic. We must be able to distinguish between actions that are intended to harm the state and those that are not. We must ensure that the law does not feel rigid and instead wound the sense of justice of ordinary people who are struggling,” he said.
Previously, the Probolinggo District Prosecutor’s Office had named Muhammad Misbahul Huda (MMH), a contract teacher at SDN Brabe 1 in Probolinggo, as a suspect for holding a second position as a Village Local Assistant (PLD). The case was then taken over by the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office and subsequently dropped.
“That the suspect was released from detention at the Kraksaan Detention Centre on Friday, February 20, 2026, and subsequently the case was taken over by the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office and the investigation of this case was stopped by the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office,” said the Head of the Legal Information Centre of the Attorney General’s Office, Anang Supriatna, to reporters on Wednesday (25/2).
