Prosecutors Detain Two Suspects in the Sinking of the Putri Sakinah, Valencia's Coach Vessel
The Manggarai Barat District Attorney’s Office (Kejari Manggarai Barat) has detained two suspects in the sinking of the Pinisi ship Putri Sakinah, which killed Valencia CF women’s football coach Martin Carreras Fernando and three of his children. The two suspects had previously not been detained by police after being named suspects on 8 January 2026. The Putri Sakinah sank in the Strait of Padar, within Komodo National Park, Labuan Bajo, Manggarai Barat, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on the night of 26 December 2025. In the incident, Fernando and his three children were victims. Three bodies have been recovered: Fernando, his 12-year-old daughter, and his 10-year-old son. One of Fernando’s sons remains missing. His wife and youngest child survived. The NTT police named the ship’s master Lukman (56) and engine room crew member Muhamad Alif Latifa N Djudje (23) as suspects on 8 January 2026. However, both were not detained during the investigation.
