Prosecutors charge Taufik Hidayat with three cumulative counts in YTR case
The Public Prosecutor (JPU) has charged Taufik Hidayat (30) at the Bale Bandung District Court, Bandung Regency, West Java, with three cumulative counts regarding alleged sexual violence, assault, and unlawful detention of a victim identified by the initials YTR.
The Head of the General Crimes Section of the Bandung Regency District Attorney’s Office, Nizar Febriansyah, stated in Bandung on Wednesday that the three charges were structured cumulatively based on the series of actions attributed to the defendant.
“The indictment has been explained; the charges we have provided are cumulative in nature, corresponding to the defendant’s series of actions, consisting of three counts,” he said.
Regarding the third charge, he noted that it utilises Article 468, Paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP) in relation to the acts alleged against the defendant.
“The defendant’s actions are regulated and punishable under Article 13 of Law No. 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes (TPKS), Article 451 of Law No. 1 of 2023 (KUHP), and Article 468, Paragraph (1) of Law No. 1 of 2023 (KUHP),” he added.
In the indictment, the prosecutor outlined a series of actions against the victim that allegedly took place from approximately December 2024 to June 2026 at various locations within the Bandung Regency.
This series of actions includes alleged physical violence, the restriction of the victim’s liberty, and sexual violence committed by the defendant during that period.
“The important thing is that efficiency is achieved,” said Nizar regarding the examination process of the case during the trial.
As a result of these actions, the victim sustained several serious injuries as documented in medical examinations, including damage to both eyes, facial wounds, facial fractures, and the loss of several teeth.
The case will proceed through the trial stages at the Bale Bandung District Court, based on the indictment read by the Public Prosecutor against the defendant.
