Prosecutors Arrest Fugitive Suspect in ASITA Corruption Case at North Kalimantan Tourism Office

Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Joint Fugitive Capture Team (Tabur) of the High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati) of North Kalimantan (Kaltara), together with the Attorney General’s Office and assisted by the High Prosecutor’s Office of South Sulawesi (Sulsel), has secured a suspect in the alleged corruption case of the ASITA Tourism Information System Application at the North Kalimantan Tourism Office (Dispar) in the province of South Sulawesi.

“On Wednesday, 22 April 2026, around 12:00 WITA, the Tabur Team of Kejati Kaltara and the Attorney General’s Office, backed up by Kejati Sulsel, secured a suspect who is on the wanted list (DPO) of Kejati Kaltara, namely SE or MI,” stated the Head of the High Prosecutor’s Office (Kajati) of Kaltara, Yudi Indra Gunawan, in Tanjung Selor on Thursday evening.

The suspect MI, he said, is a private individual serving as the executor of the ASITA development work, and has been designated as a suspect by the Special Crimes Investigators of Kejati Kaltara since Tuesday (10/2), along with two other suspects who were previously detained, namely SMDN, the former Acting Head of the North Kalimantan Provincial Tourism Office, and SF, the Chairman of the ASITA Provincial Board of North Kalimantan.

“Since MI was designated as a suspect, he has never complied with the investigator’s summons, ultimately leading to his status as a fugitive and inclusion on the Kejati Kaltara DPO list,” he said.

After approximately three months of disappearance, Yudi stated, the suspect MI was detected in a location in the province of South Sulawesi. The Tabur Team then moved to the suspect’s whereabouts and successfully captured him.

Following that, he added, the suspect was immediately flown to Kaltara to be handed over to the Special Crimes Investigators of Kejati Kaltara.

“The suspect arrived at the Kejati Kaltara office on Thursday, 23 April 2026, at 17:00 WITA, and after examination, at 19:00 WITA, the suspect was taken to the Bulungan Police Resort Detention Centre for detention,” he said.

Regarding the success of capturing the DPO, Yudi, as Kajati Kaltara, expressed thanks to all parties who have been proactive and supportive in the search efforts for the suspect, leading to his capture and return to Kaltara.

“There is no safe place for fugitives, and I urge the public not to hesitate to provide information if they know the whereabouts of criminal actors on the Kejati Kaltara DPO list,” he concluded.
