Prosecutorial Commission Urged to Conduct Special Examination into Febrie Case

A member of the Working Committee (Panja) on Law Enforcement Oversight concerning case handling by the Corruption Task Force of the National Police and the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia, Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Nasyirul Falah Amru (Gus Falah), has urged the Prosecution Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (Komjak RI) to conduct a special examination into the case of former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah.

Gus Falah believes the special examination is important so that this case becomes entirely transparent, from upstream to downstream. That way, the public can obtain a true picture of the case beyond the investigation process carried out by the team of investigators.

“The Prosecution Commission has the authority, under the Prosecution Service Law and Presidential Regulation No 18 of 2011, to monitor cases that attract public attention, one of which is this case involving the former Jampidsus, for which the Prosecution Commission has already formed a special team,” said Gus Falah on Wednesday (29/7).

The member of the PDI Perjuangan faction in the DPR continued that a special examination process is nothing new for the Prosecution Commission. It has been carried out frequently, particularly in relation to cases that attract public attention.

Gus Falah expressed hope that the Prosecution Commission would exercise its authority in accordance with existing regulations so that this case achieves legal certainty. “This case has drawn considerable public attention, given the background of the individuals involved who possess integrity and credibility. I am confident that the Prosecution Commission of the Republic of Indonesia can handle this case well,” he concluded.

He also reminded Kuntadi not to turn a blind eye to the case that has ensnared his predecessor. According to him, the case implicating Febrie must be resolved swiftly.
