Prosecutor Who Served Under Nadiem Advised to Be Removed from Febrie Adriansyah Investigation Team
The name of prosecutor Chatarina Muliana Girsang has come under scrutiny after she joined the special investigative team, known as Team 9, formed to handle the alleged corruption and money laundering case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah as a suspect. Chatarina has drawn attention because she previously served as Inspector General at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology during the tenure of Minister Nadiem Makarim.
It is known that investigators from the Jampidsus at the Attorney General’s Office, when still under the leadership of Febrie Adriansyah, handled the corruption case concerning the procurement of Chromebooks for education digitalisation at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, which named Nadiem Makarim as a suspect.
Legal observer Kamilov Sagala is concerned that this relational connection could render the legal process against Febrie lacking in independence. For this reason, Kamilov has advised the Attorney General’s Office to replace Chatarina from the Team 9 list.
“It would be best to replace her because it can clearly be said that she has the potential to be not independent,” said Kamilov in his statement on Sunday (9/8/2026).
According to him, the potential for a conflict of interest likely exists because the individual in question, as a prosecutor who became Inspector General at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, possesses thorough knowledge of events within that ministry.
“That means there is a working relationship that causes a lack of independence on her part, in addition to the fact that she is now part of Team 9, which is investigating FA, a former senior official at the Attorney General’s Office. This could lead to unprofessional conduct on her part,” he said.
It is known that the Attorney General’s Office previously formed a special investigative team consisting of nine senior prosecutors referred to as Team 9. The special investigators were formed to handle the alleged corruption and money laundering case involving former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah.
The nine prosecutors on the special investigative team handling the Febrie Adriansyah case are as follows:
Financial Inspector II at the Junior Attorney General for Supervision, Agus Salim
Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office, Muhibuddin
Head of the Centre for Tracing and Forfeiture Management of the Asset Recovery Agency at the Attorney General’s Office, Chatarina Muliana Girsang
Financial Inspector I at Jamwas, Riono
Secretary of the Junior Attorney General for General Crimes, Agus Sahat
Director of Legal Considerations at the Junior Attorney General for Civil and State Administrative Affairs, Irene Putri
Deputy Head of the Banten High Prosecutor’s Office, Rinaldi Umar
Director of Prosecution at the Junior Attorney General for Military Crimes, Zet Tadong Allo
Director A at the Junior Attorney General for General Crimes, Hari Wibowo.
