During the first hearing at the Mataram District Court in West Nusa Tenggara on Wednesday, public prosecutors revealed the motive behind Bara Primario’s murder of his biological mother. “Initially, the defendant, Bara Primario, requested money from the victim under the pretext of paying off a debt,” stated I Dewa Narapati, representing the prosecution team, while reading the indictment before the panel of judges chaired by Kelik Trimargo.

According to the prosecution, the victim refused the request in an emotional manner. Because the request for Rp6 million was not met, the defendant subsequently planned the murder to facilitate the seizure of the victim’s valuable belongings. The defendant carried out the act in the early hours of Sunday, 25 January, while the victim was asleep at their home in the Monjok area, Mataram City. The victim was strangled with nylon rope until she passed away.

“The entirety of the funds was sent by the defendant to an online gambling deposit account,” the prosecutor stated. The prosecution also revealed that the defendant attempted to cover his tracks by deleting CCTV footage installed in the house. During the commission of the crime, the defendant reportedly purchased Pertalite fuel to burn the victim’s body at the scene. After returning from West Sekotong, the defendant visited a car wash. Following the reading of the indictment, the defendant stated that he would not file an exception or objection. The panel of judges has scheduled the follow-up hearing for Wednesday (10/6) for the presentation of evidence.
