The trial for the acid attack on Andrie Yunus was reconvened at the Jakarta II-08 Military Court on Wednesday (13/5/2026). The judge initially inquired whether Andrie could attend the proceedings or not.

“Has Mr AY been able to be present to serve as a witness in this trial?” said the presiding judge, Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto.

“With your permission, Your Honour. We have sent a letter requesting additional witness Mr AY, or Andrie Yunus, via the LPSK. However, the LPSK responded that Mr Andrie Yunus is still unable to attend the Military Court to provide his testimony as per our request to serve as an additional witness,” said military prosecutor Colonel Chk Muhammad Iswadi.

The prosecutor added that the reason Andrie Yunus could not attend was due to his post-operative condition. He revealed the possibility that Andrie moving during a visit could cause the operation to fail.

“Because of Mr Andrie Yunus’s post-operative condition, he still cannot be visited. If Mr Andrie Yunus is visited and then moves, there is a risk that the skin graft operation will fail,” he said.

The prosecutor explained that they had attempted to visit Andrie Yunus. However, Andrie Yunus could not yet be visited, so they could only meet his legal representatives.

“There, the legal team for Mr Andrie Yunus also met us, so we, the prosecutors, understand the situation and condition currently faced by Mr Andrie Yunus. Thus, we inquired about his current condition, and it was answered that post-operation, Mr Andrie Yunus must rest totally and move as little as possible,” he stated.

For information, the Andrie Yunus case began to be tried in military court on Wednesday (29/4). In this case, there are four defendants who are TNI members.

The military prosecutor has charged the four TNI soldiers with carrying out the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. The military prosecutor said the defendants carried out the act out of annoyance with Andrie.

The prosecutor said the defendants learned of Andrie on 16 March 2025 when Andrie entered and interrupted a meeting discussing revisions to the TNI Law held by the DPR at the Fairmont Hotel in South Jakarta. The defendants considered Andrie’s actions to have insulted the TNI institution.

“Due to that incident, the defendants viewed Mr Andrie Yunus as having insulted the TNI institution, even trampling on the TNI institution,” said the prosecutor when reading the indictment.

The prosecutor charged the four soldiers with violating Article 469 paragraph 1 subsidiary Article 468 paragraph 1 further subsidiary Article 467 paragraph 1 in conjunction with paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 20 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
