Prosecutor receives Hartono's dossier

Police said yesterday that they have handed over the dossier of Hartono Setyawan, a notorious pimp who specialized in brokering high-class call-girls, to the Jakarta High Prosecution office. They will later pass it to the district court for trial.

"The dossier was sent to the prosecutor's office on Saturday," Col. Nurfaizi, chief of the Investigative Directorate at the city police headquarters, told reporters.

Hartono, 42, considered to be the country's biggest and most powerful pimp for the last two decades, ran a number of high- class brothels in several big cities, such as Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Denpasar and Semarang.

Hartono was captured on July 24 in his mansion in the elite Pondok Indah housing complex after police arrested six high-class call-girls at a brothel he ran on Jl. Prapanca, South Jakarta.

If found guilty, Hartono could be sentenced to one year imprisonment for violating either the criminal code's chapter 296 or 506, which forbids sexual procurement. The Chapter 292 sees sexual procurement as crime, while the Chapter 506 sees it as a misdemeanor.

Earlier, police had sent to the Jakarta High Prosecutor's office the dossier of Yor, a prominent executive of a youth organization who was caught red-handed gambling with six other people at a storehouse on Jl. Daan Mogot, West Jakarta two weeks ago.

Yor was released by police on bail on Thursday after they completed his criminal dossier. (jsk)
