The East Nusa Tenggara Attorney General’s Office (Kejati NTT) again questioned a witness regarding alleged money flows to Medan Kajari Ridwan Sujana Angsar. The witness, named Didik Hariyadi Brand, was examined by the Assistant for Oversight (Aswas) of the NTT Attorney General’s Office, last Tuesday.

The examination marks a new chapter in the alleged extortion that emerged from the plea hearing of the defendant Hironimus Sonbay, also known as Roni. Didik and Roni are said to be among those allegedly asked for money by Ridwan Sujana Angsar and the General Crimes Coordinator (Pidum) of the NTT Attorney General’s Office, Noven Verderikus Bulan.

“Yesterday, Tuesday, 19 May 2026, Didik provided formal statements to investigators from the NTT Attorney General’s Office regarding transfers of money to an aide to be forwarded to RA (Ridwan Sujana Angsar) and payments for hotels in Bali and Malang,” said Hironimus alias Roni’s lawyer, Francisco Bessi, to detikBali on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

“According to Francisco, the examination followed the NTT Attorney General’s Office filing a request with the Kupang Corruption Court (Tipikor) to examine Didik as a witness.”

“During the inquiry, Didik provided statements relating to the money transfer, conversation records, and transactions said to be connected with Ridwan. One of the pieces of evidence cited was a chat between Didik and Roni regarding the return of Rp 25 million.”

“It should be emphasised that there is a confirmed chat between Didik and Roni, in which Roni asks for the return of his Rp 25 million and Didik sent back that money on 7 October 2022. Therefore the bank statements are among the evidence,” Fransisco said.

“Fransisco also stated that Didik’s and Roni’s testimonies corroborate each other and are supported by other evidence. He said Didik admitted being asked for money by Ridwan, which was then sent through his aide.”

“Furthermore, his aide’s photo clearly shows the account book and the transfer amount of around Rp 5 million,” Fransisco said.

“In addition, Didik is said to have provided evidence of hotel payments believed to be related to the case.”

“There were hotel vouchers amounting to around Rp 6.7 million in Malang and also in Bali, but he (Didik) can’t recall the exact amounts,” Fransisco added.

Fransisco stressed that all of the data had been handed to the NTT Attorney General’s Office’s Oversight Assistant for examination. The further results of the inquiry will be forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) for follow-up.

“Thus what I am stating is based on data and facts. The conclusion is that for the Jaksa RA there are already two reports based on the statements of Roni together with Didik. The two accounts corroborate each other and each is alleged to be extorted by the prosecutor in question,” Fransisco asserted.

Spokesperson for the NTT Prosecutor’s Office’s Public Relations, Anak Agung Raka Putra Dharmana, confirmed the examination of Didik Brand. However, he did not disclose the subject matter of the examination.

“True. Regarding the subject matter of the examination, we cannot disclose it yet,” Raka said when contacted by detikBali.

Emerged from the Plea Hearing

The case of alleged extortion had previously come to light during the plea note reading of Hironimus Sonbay alias Roni at the Kupang Tipikor Court.

In that session, Fransisco said that Ridwan Sujana Angsar and Noven Verderikus Bulan allegedly asked for money from Roni in connection with renovation projects for primary and secondary schools in the city of Kupang and Kupang Regency.

Ridwan now serves as the Medan Kajari. Noven remains at the NTT Attorney General’s Office.

Fransisco also revealed that Ridwan allegedly received Rp 140 million in 2022 in instalments. Additionally, Noven is alleged to have extorted Roni for around Rp 175 million.

All of the evidence, he said, was presented during the trial to be examined in the case.
