Prosecution Service Training Head Opens Technical Training on Criminal Procedure Code in Medan
Medan (ANTARA) - The Head of the Training and Development Agency (Kabandiklat) of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia, Harli Siregar, has opened technical training for the consolidation of the new Criminal Code (KUHP) and the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) in Medan, North Sumatra.
“This activity is a national programme of the Prosecution Service that must be followed correctly and seriously,” Harli stated during the opening ceremony in Medan on Tuesday.
He noted that the implementation of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code and the updates to the Criminal Procedure Code serve as essential guidelines for prosecutors in performing their law enforcement duties.
According to him, an understanding of the changes in criminal provisions and criminal procedure is necessary so that prosecutors can apply them professionally while remaining mindful of the protection of human rights (HAM).
“I want to ensure the enthusiasm, seriousness, and willingness of all of you in participating in this training,” he said.
Harli urged all participants to engage earnestly in the training and to implement the knowledge gained in their duties as prosecutors.
“Naturally, after attending this, it is expected that you can implement the knowledge obtained in your duties as prosecutors, while continuing to be guided by human rights protection and humanist justice,” he added.
The training is scheduled to last for four days and is attended by 150 participants, including Heads of General Crimes Sections (Kasi Pidum), Heads of Special Crimes Sections (Kasi Pidsus), and heads of sub-sections from prosecution offices across the northern Sumatra region. The programme features instructors and presenters from various agencies and academic circles.
Harli added that the training was initiated by the Functional Technical Education Centre of the Prosecution Service’s Training and Development Agency to increase the competence of prosecutors, particularly in understanding the fundamental changes in the new KUHP and KUHAP.
