Prosecution Hearing for Three Defendants in Chromebook Corruption Case Scheduled for 16 April
The alleged corruption case concerning the procurement of Chromebook laptops and Chrome Device Management (CDM) has entered a new phase. Three defendants in the case will undergo prosecution hearings next week.
“The prosecution on Thursday, 16 April,” stated the spokesperson for the Central Jakarta District Court, M Firman Akbar, to reporters on Friday (10/4/2026).
The three defendants are Mulyatsyah, who served as Director of Secondary Schools at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in 2020; Sri Wahyuningsih, Director of Primary Schools at the Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education, and Secondary Education from 2020 to 2021; and Ibrahim Arief alias Ibam, a consultant. Their prosecution hearings will be held on Thursday (16/4).
Previously, prosecutors charged Mul, Sri, and Ibam with causing a state financial loss of Rp 2.1 trillion in the case.
Prosecutors stated that the Rp 2.1 trillion state loss calculation stems from the overpricing of Chromebook laptops amounting to Rp 1,567,888,662,716.74 (Rp 1.5 trillion). Additionally, it includes the procurement of unnecessary and unbeneficial CDM worth USD 44,054,426, or approximately Rp 621,387,678,730 (Rp 621 billion).
“The state financial loss of Rp 1,567,888,662,716.74 is based on the audit report on the calculation of state financial losses in the alleged criminal corruption case of the education digitalisation programme at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology from 2019 to 2022, Number PE.03.03/SR/SP-920/D6/02/2025 dated 4 November 2025 from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Prosecutor Roy Riady while reading the indictment at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court.
“And the state financial loss due to the procurement of unnecessary and unbeneficial Chrome Device Management in the Education Digitalisation Programme at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia from 2019 to 2022 amounting to USD 44,054,426 or at least Rp 621,387,678,730,” he added.
