Jakarta, VIVA – The prosecution reading session in the alleged Chromebook corruption case, which implicates Nadiem Anwar Makarim as a defendant, will be held at the Corruption Court at the Jakarta Central District Court on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.

Presiding Judge Purwanto Abdullah stated that the evidence phase of the case has concluded, allowing the public prosecutor to present the indictment.

“At the request of the prosecutor, I request the opportunity to read the indictment on Wednesday, 13 May 2026,” said the Presiding Judge during the closing of the defendant examination session at the Corruption Court of the Jakarta Central District Court on Monday, 11 May 2026 evening.

Ahead of the prosecution hearing, the Panel of Judges has approved the request to change the detention status of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology for the 2019–2024 period from prison detention to house arrest, effective from Tuesday, 12 May 2026.

Although his detention status has changed, several conditions have been imposed on Nadiem, with emphasis that if he violates them, his status will revert to state prison detention.

The Presiding Judge emphasised that no other factors influenced the change in Nadiem’s detention status besides his health condition.

In the alleged corruption case of the education digitalisation programme involving the procurement of Chromebook laptops and Chrome Device Management (CDM) within the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology from 2019 to 2022, Nadiem is charged with corruption causing state financial losses of Rp2.18 trillion.

The corruption is alleged to have been committed, among others, by implementing the procurement of information and communication technology-based learning facilities in the form of Chromebook laptops and CDM for the 2020, 2021, and 2022 fiscal years not in accordance with the procurement planning and principles of procurement.

Nadiem’s actions are charged as being committed jointly with three other defendants in separate trials, namely Ibrahim Arief alias Ibam, Mulyatsyah, and Sri Wahyuningsih, as well as Jurist Tan, who remains at large.

In detail, the state losses caused amount to Rp1.56 trillion related to the education digitalisation programme at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, as well as US$44.05 million or equivalent to Rp621.39 billion due to the procurement of unnecessary and unbeneficial CDM in the education digitalisation programme.

Through these actions, Nadiem is alleged to have received money amounting to Rp809.59 billion from PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa (PT AKAB) via PT Gojek Indonesia.
