Proposed Successor to Listyo Sigit, Suyudi Ario Seto Outlines National Police Reform Roadmap until 2029 in Fit and Proper Test
The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III has received a presidential letter regarding the proposed dismissal and appointment of the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri). The presidential letter proposes replacing General Listyo Sigit Prabowo with Police Commissioner Suyudi Ario Seto.
Following the receipt of this letter, Commission III of the DPR held a fit and proper test for the Kapolri candidate on Thursday (1 October 202<0xA0>6).
Police Commissioner Suyudi Ario Seto, who currently serves as the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), is the candidate proposed to succeed Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
In his presentation to Commission III of the DPR, Suyudi shared several ideas that he intends to implement if entrusted with leading the Bhayangkara Corps.
“Through this honourable forum, allow me to convey what I will undertake if I receive this mandate, but also how I view the National Police, how I understand the public’s anxieties, and how I will be accountable for every authority entrusted to this institution by the state,” said Police Commissioner Suyudi Ario Seto during his presentation.
Suyudi also referenced the upcoming 80th Bhayangkara Day, celebrated on 1 July 2026. He stated that institutional reform within the National Police would remain a vital part of his leadership direction should he be granted the trust.
“If I receive this mandate, I wish to continue the reforms with courage, viewing the institution’s shortcomings clearly, while simultaneously maintaining and expanding the achievements built by my predecessors,” he explained.
In his presentation, Suyudi introduced the theme “Police with the Community” as his leadership doctrine and the direction for the National Police’s transformation.
“The theme I am proposing is Police with the Community. This serves as a leadership doctrine and a direction for transformation that places the community at the centre of policing duties,” said Suyudi.
The candidate’s presentation covered various aspects, ranging from the national situation and strategic environment to achievements, public sentiment, the direction of police transformation, and his first 100-day programme.
Furthermore, Suyudi outlined sustainability programmes intended to be implemented through to 2029.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman, confirmed that the DPR leadership has received the presidential letter regarding the proposed dismissal and appointment for the position of Kapolri.
