Propindo Secretary General States Modern Advocate Organisations are Multi-Bar
The Secretary General of the Indonesian Lawyers’ Professional Association (Propindo) explained that all advocate organisations in Indonesia have a shared objective: to assist in upholding dignified law enforcement before the public.
He also supports the efforts of the Government under President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, together with the DPR RI’s Commission III, to open the widest possible space for various advocate organisations to shed their organisational egos. This step is for the common interest, namely as representatives of the people dealing with the law.
According to Heikal, professional advocate organisations in Indonesia in the modern era are now multi-bar (multi-organisational) and equal to one another. “Thus, it is no longer a single bar (single organisation),” said Heikal in a press release in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
He explained that dozens of advocate organisations in Indonesia are always ready and able to collaborate in law enforcement in the country. This even applies in the international legal sphere. Therefore, Heikal supports the efforts of the DPR’s Commission III to make advocate organisations multi-bar.
Most importantly, he added, all these organisations must prioritise justice in carrying out their duties. “Therefore, maturity in thinking and wise behaviour are needed in handling legal cases, to realise dignified justice,” said Heikal.
