In many ancient stories, the figure of Samson is known as a man of extraordinary strength who could demolish buildings with his physical power. In Islamic tradition, this legendary figure is believed to be a prophet named Syam’un al-Ghozi, who was endowed with extraordinary miracles by Allah SWT. In several Islamic literatures, Nabi Syam’un is described as a prophet from the Bani Isra’il who possessed special strength. He is said to be able to soften iron and demolish palaces with his hands. The power was used to fight oppression and eradicate kufr in his people. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is said to have recounted the story of Syam’un’s struggle to his companions. In one event, Syam’un is said to have demolished a magnificent palace with his hands until many tyrants were killed. Yet in that event, Syam’un also died. By Allah’s will, he was subsequently brought back to life.
