PROPER Awards 2025 Successfully Held, Environment Minister Emphasises This!
The Ministry of Environment and Forestry/Environmental Control Agency (KLHK/BPLH) has successfully organised the Company Performance Rating Programme (PROPER) 2025 as a form of appreciation and motivation for business actors to continue contributing to environmental conservation efforts.
This initiative, launched in 1995, has established strict criteria and assessments for participants. Out of 5,497 PROPER 2025 participants, 243 top companies were selected, worthy of receiving the Green ranking, and 39 the Gold ranking.
Minister of KLHK/BPLH, Hanif Faisal Nurofiq, emphasised that his side greatly appreciates the business actors and company leaders who have successfully earned the PROPER environmental award. This serves as evidence that many business actors are aware of the importance of environmental management.
“To the company friends and company leaders, CEOs who today received the Green predicate, thank you. PROPER has become part of the compliance that has been carried out, contributing seriously to building many things, from resource efficiency, pollution prevention, and many activities that can build the community economy directly or indirectly,” Hanif stated at the PROPER 2025 Environmental Awards event at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, quoted on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
Regarding this, he continued, in the future, the government will select and directly conduct supervision and law enforcement on environmental management and regulation. Therefore, he added, the implementation of PROPER must also adjust to the government’s policies.
Hanif explained that as Minister of Environment, he has two duties. However, with the existence of BPLH, the Minister of Environment’s duties have increased, in this case, supervision and law enforcement for compliance with environmental management according to applicable laws.
Therefore, the government will take firm steps against companies that do not meet environmental conservation requirements. This includes enforcement of suspending environmental approvals.
“What does this mean? That the central government will directly conduct supervision and control, law enforcement, and technical guidance on all levels of environmental protection implementation,” Hanif said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy for Pollution and Environmental Damage Control of KLHK/BPLH, Rasio Ridho Sani, stated that the PROPER Environmental Award is a form of democracy. This company performance ranking assessment programme in environmental management is an instrument to encourage industry compliance with environmental regulations.
Even exceeding compliance, or beyond compliance. Not only that, he continued, PROPER is also an instrument of KLHK/BPLH that uses a public disclosure approach (public information disclosure).
“So, PROPER is also a form of democracy in environmental protection and management. Because we convey the results to the public regarding the performance that you, the company leaders, have done,” Ridho said.
“Today, PROPER has reached three decades, 30 years. So this is a programme carried out by the government that has been consistently implemented. So today we are carrying out the announcement of PROPER or the PROPER driver in the third decade. Not many programmes that the government can consistently carry out,” he added.
It is known that the PROPER 2025 Award is a form of recognition for the extraordinary efforts of companies that not only meet environmental regulatory requirements but also exceed those standards through various innovations and best sustainable practices.
In addition to companies, several company leaders also received Green Leadership in the 2025 PROPER Environmental Awards. This award is given to company leaders or CEOs who demonstrate the best performance in sustainable environmental and social governance.
