Propam Investigates Kolaka Police Guard After 11 Detainees Escape

The Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda) have dispatched a Profession and Security (Propam) team to investigate the cause of the escape of 11 detainees from the North Kolaka Police station’s holding cells. “Yes, an internal team has already been dispatched to North Kolaka,” said Polda Sultra Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Iis Kristian, to CNNIndonesia.com on Friday (3/7). Iis admitted he did not yet know the number of personnel being examined or the progress of the investigation. “We will just wait for the results of the investigation,” he said. The incident occurred on Thursday (2/7) at around 03.30 WITA. Based on initial examinations, the detainees escaped after damaging an air vent in the detention room. “To date, two of the eleven detainees who escaped have been recaptured,” said North Kolaka Police Chief AKBP Ritman Todoan Agung Gultom in a statement on Thursday (2/7). Ritman added that his party is still pursuing the nine remaining fugitives and has urged them to surrender.
