Promoting the Cold Chain Ecosystem, Isuzu Introduces the ELF Refrigerator at GIICOMVEC 2026
The need for cold chain logistics in Indonesia is becoming increasingly crucial, alongside the rising distribution of temperature-sensitive products such as medicines, vaccines, and fresh foodstuffs. Amid demands to maintain quality from upstream to downstream, the reliability of refrigerated vehicles is a determining factor in ensuring products remain safe until they reach consumers.
At the GIICOMVEC 2026 event at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia (IAMI) is presenting an innovation in commercial vehicles through the Isuzu ELF Refrigerator. This model is showcased as a solution to support the growing needs of the cold chain sector across various industries.
“The introduction of the Isuzu ELF Refrigerator is proof that Isuzu’s innovations are continuously developed sustainably to meet customer needs in the cold chain sector,” said Rian Erlangga, Head of the Business Strategy Division at PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia, in his statement on Thursday (9/4/2026).
IAMI is collaborating with Vitrans bodybuilder to introduce a refrigerated box application on the Isuzu ELF NMR L truck base. The vehicle is designed to accommodate the distribution of goods requiring controlled temperatures, such as pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, FMCG, and chemicals.
In terms of dimensions, the ELF NMR L chassis offers a maximum length of up to 5,700 mm with a box capacity of 23.9 cubic metres. This size is one of the largest in its class and provides flexibility for businesses to optimise transport capacity.
The vehicle’s performance is supported by a 4,778 cc diesel engine meeting Euro 4 standards, capable of producing 147.9 hp at 2,600 rpm and torque of 41 kg.m in the 1,400–2,600 rpm range. This combination is considered sufficient to support inter-city distribution operations with diverse road characteristics.
In addition to power, aspects of efficiency and comfort are also a focus. The engine is designed with lower vibration and noise levels, providing a more stable driving experience while helping to maintain driver concentration during journeys.
From a safety perspective, the braking system relies on a combination of front drum brakes and an exhaust brake to assist vehicle control when carrying heavy loads. This system is essential for maintaining stability, especially in long-distance logistics operations.
The presence of such refrigerated vehicles is relevant to the growth of Indonesia’s cold chain industry, which is expanding widely. The distribution of temperature-sensitive products is no longer limited to specific sectors but extends to various business lines that require reliable logistics.
On the other hand, the application-based approach in commercial vehicles demonstrates a new direction in the commercial automotive industry, where vehicles are no longer merely transport tools but part of integrated business solutions aligned with customer operational needs.
Through this development, Isuzu affirms the role of commercial vehicles in supporting distribution efficiency while maintaining product quality.
“The Isuzu ELF has a long history and has supported various customer businesses over time. The performance, flexibility, efficiency, and durability of the Isuzu ELF have long been proven and provide peace of mind for Vitrans in developing the Isuzu ELF Refrigerator. We believe that the Isuzu ELF and other commercial vehicles we offer can be trusted business partners that provide maximum benefits for Isuzu Partners,” said Rian.
The Isuzu ELF Refrigerator and other products from PT IAMI are present at the Isuzu booth located in Hall B3-1 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, during GIICOMVEC 2026 until 11 April 2026.
