Bank Syariah Nasional (BSN) has shown its commitment to environmental preservation through the planting of 1,150 mangrove seedlings in the Teluk Benoa coastal area, Bali. This was also done to commemorate World Earth Day.

Director of Finance, Strategy and Treasury at Bank BSN, Abdul Firman, stated that this activity is part of the company’s long-term commitment to maintaining environmental sustainability.

“The planting of mangroves is not merely a ceremonial activity, but a form of our responsibility in maintaining ecological balance. Every seedling planted today is an investment for the future, both for the environment and future generations. We hope this step can have a significant impact and inspire more parties to contribute,” he said in Teluk Benoa, Bali, as quoted from his statement on Sunday, 12 April 2026.

Mangroves were chosen due to their strategic role in preserving coastal ecosystems. In addition to functioning as a natural shield against abrasion and sea waves, mangroves are also effective in absorbing carbon, serving as habitats for various biota, and supporting the livelihoods of coastal communities.

The planting of 1,150 mangrove seedlings is also expected to have long-term impacts on the environment, while serving as a concrete step in addressing climate change.

Furthermore, this activity aligns with Bank BSN’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 13 (Climate Action), Goal 14 (Life Below Water), and Goal 15 (Life on Land).

Bank BSN also expressed appreciation to all parties who have supported the implementation of this activity, ensuring it runs smoothly and benefits the environment and society.

“Going forward, Bank BSN is committed to continuing to present sustainable programmes as part of corporate social responsibility and as a real contribution to the future of the earth,” he said.

Meanwhile, Field Coordinator of LindungiHutan, Samuel Pranowo Sandrianto, expressed his appreciation to Bank BSN for carrying out this very meaningful activity, namely the planting of 1,150 mangrove trees.

According to him, a healthy and sustainable living environment is one of the main keys to creating a better quality of life. Trees, as an important part of the ecosystem, play a very vital role in maintaining ecological balance.
